It is important to note that this method is not a good idea to use when leather is involved, as you will probably scratch, score, or otherwise damage the leather in the process. A gentler method of gum stain removal is important for use with leather.

Oil is another way that you can remove gum from clothes, hair, or carpets in your Palm Harbor, Florida home. Oil based products like lotions can also work. But baby oil and cooking oils are equally effective. All you have to do is rub the oil into the gum and use a paper towel to remove. This works especially well when the gum is in hair. Be careful with using it on clothes and on carpets or upholstery, as the oil can cause a new stain. It is possible to remove this stain, however, by pressing out with a dry cloth and then using a cloth dipped in turpentine to treat it. Dry the area with a lukewarm iron, and you are set.

These are products like Goo Gone, WD-40 (yes, that oil in a handy can), and compressed air products that freeze the gum completely. If you use the compressed air method of gum removal, you should know that by hitting the gum with a hammer, it will shatter everywhere. Use a vacuum to clean up all of the pieces. You can use a credit card to rub the gum, keep the pieces better contained. But the gum will still break completely apart, meaning that you will still have to vacuum it up.

There are ways of cleaning up stains simply by using products readily available in your homes which you use regularly such as detergents, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, lemon juice, et al. It’s just a matter or knowing how to use these household products and the procedures to go about cleaning out the stains. Now here are just some tips that will provide you with an excellent, immediate yet economical solutions in handling carpet stains.

For Pet Stain:

Option 1:
Use Ammonia solution: One teaspoon of clear, household type ammonia to a half of a cup of water. This solution can be used in a spray bottle or be applied to the carpet directly. It is important not to wet the carpets backing when apply. After applying solution, use white paper towels to blot. Allow to dry completely.

Option 2:
Use Detergent solution: A detergent solution can be made of hand soap or dish soap. The combination is one quarter of a teaspoon of detergent to one quart of water. Make sure the soap does not contain bleach or lanolin. 

1. Blot the stain with white paper towels to remove as much of the solution as possible. 
2. Apply detergent solution from a spray bottle. 
3. Rub the area. 
4. Blot out the stain and detergent. 

Option 3:(the best solution)
Often, good old fashioned water can re-hydrate the stain to help with removal. Most of the pet stains can be cleaned up with a use of steam cleaner. Then dry as thoroughly as possible.

For Ink Stain:

1. Isopropyl rubbing alcohol can be purchased at your grocery store or department store. 
2. Apply it by pouring some onto a clean, white towel or other cloth. Paper towels can be used as long as they are white. 
3. Blot until as much as possible until stain is removed. 
4. Be careful. If the stain is small, blot in one direction only so that you do not spread the stain. 

For Beers and Wines Stains:

1. Make a solution of one part of white vinegar with one part of water. 
2. Apply to the stain using a spray bottle to saturate. 
3. Allow the stain to sit about ten to fifteen minutes. 
4. Use a sponge to clean in a rubbing motion. 
5. Rinse with warm water. 
6. Brush the pile back into the natural direction is has. 
7. Using layers of white paper towels, place paper towel on top of area, place a book on top of that. Allow to sit like this until it has dried.

Cleaning Codes Explained

Code “XS” Care Method:
Clean this fabric only by vacuuming or light brushing to prevent accumulation of dust or grime. Water-based foam cleaners or solvent-based cleaning agents of any kind may cause excessive shrinking, staining or distortion of the surface pile and, therefore; should not be used. A word of caution on cleaning: never remove cushion covers or arm caps for separate cleaning. It may destroy the backing, cause shrinking and color changes.

Code “W” Care Method:
Use water base upholstery cleaner only.

Code “WS” Care Method:
To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended. Spot clean, with a mild solvent, an upholstery shampoo, or the foam from a mild detergent. When using a solvent or dry cleaning product, follow instructions carefully and clean only in a well ventilated room. Avoid any product which is highly toxic. With either method, pretest a small area before proceeding. Use a professional furniture cleaning service when an overall soiled condition has been reached.

Code “S” Care Method:
To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended. Spot clean using a mild water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. Clean only in a well ventilated room and avoid any product containing carbon tetrachloride which is highly toxic. Pretest small area before proceeding. Cleaning by a professional furniture cleaning service only is recommended.

Code “SW” Care Method:
Spot clean with upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent, or mild dry cleaning solvent. Pretest a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding. Do not saturate. Pile fabrics may require brushing with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to restore appearance. Hot water extraction or steam cleaning is not a recommended cleaning method. Cushion casings should not be removed and laundered or dry cleaned. To prevent overall soiling, frequent vacuuming or light brushing with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to remove dust and grime is recommended. When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material. Clean spots or stains from the outside to the middle of affected area to prevent circling. Use a professional overall soiled condition has been reached.
